October 29th

Mrs. Comer's class will have a spelling test on Friday, so study, study, STUDY!!!
The words and definitions are on pages 60 and 61 of the Wordskills book.

Mr. Frost's class will have a packet for Thursday and Friday. Minute Math is due on Friday.

October 28th

I am so proud of my SRA classes!!! We are currently on Lesson 28 and about to start on Lesson 29! Friday we will have a treat in my class! Thanks to all of the parents for your support in helping me with this wonderful bunch of students! I appreciate you all!

Don't forget to wear dark colors tomorrow for the funeral of Mr. Bob Remainder. We will all miss him and his assistance in math.

Coordinating Conjunctions/Simple and Compound sentences

Here is an easy way to remember several of the coordinating conjunctions: FANBOYS
F=for
A=and
N=nor
B=but/because
O=or
Y=yet
S=so

(4+3) = 7
(S+V) = simple sentence
(4+3) + (4+3) = 14
(S+V) + (S+V) = compound sentence

Tuesday:

Combine simple sentences from homework last night (paragraph written with only simple sentences) using conjunctions.

Write spelling words and definitions on index cards.

Write 1 paragraph telling me what you think of Shi Huangdi from the story in the Literature book, "The First Emperor".

Wednesday:
Write 5 Compound sentences of your own, and 5 within "The First Emperor"
Write a sentence using 7 of the 15 spelling words.
What is the one thing you hope to be remembered by? Why?

Thursday:
Review simple/ compound/ and complex sentences
Study for spelling test!
Review main ideas and supporting detail notes for quiz!
